On my morning drive, I saw a fella I know that rides his bike, a considerable distance I might add, to get to work everyday. And I noticed, he is still VERY MUCH overweight... and that got me to thinking about how many people set themselves up for failure.
Consider this if you will....
If you didn't change a thing about your current eating plan and just started to work out, you WOULD probably see some results, first would be a water loss, then some small weight loss but, it wouldn't be long before you hit a wall and the numbers wouldn't move.
THAT would discourage anyone from going on!!! Seriously!! think about doing a spin class or an aerobic class or a boot camp class and having your butt kicked and at the end of the week getting on the scale and losing 1lbs only. Don't get me wrong, a pound lost is a pound gone but, for that kind of effort! I would want at least 2lbs so I could hit the 8-10lbs range! lol!
BTW, you CAN lose 10lbs in a month, you might have a week where you are a tad more active and its okay to hit 3lbs but, 4-5lbs... it can mean you are losing water and/or muscle mass, NOT good!
So then the Egg should come first!!
And here is my reasoning/thoughts behind why.
If you were to purge your kitchen of EVERY box, package etc... that has Refined Sugar, Syrup, Glucose, Enriched Flour, Hydrogenated Oil, EDTA, Food Coloring, Preservatives and junk foods... and set yourself a healthy eating plan in your caloric range based on your realistic weight and portion control RE-education... You WOULD see weight loss in your first week.
How encouraging is that!!?
After a couple of weeks of solid eating under your belt, then I would say start your exercise plan! It could be walking, a DVD (I like Richard Simons to get you going lol!), exercise equipment you have in your house... YOU determine what YOU like to do and just do it!!!
And if you are obese or severely obese, you can see 3-5lbs come off in the first few weeks.
Just imagine... a few pounds in your first few weeks, then a few more pounds in your next few weeks from the next series of changes... and before you know it! 10lbs GONE!!!
The pounds can mean dropping sizes in clothes! Having more energy! Feeling and Looking better!
If you do Purge your kitchen, don't forget the refrigerator!!! there is a ton of garbage hiding in there!!! Once you purge, head to the store to replace the garbage with REAL FOOD!!! Read labels, both the Ingredients, the Calories, the Serving size, the Sodium, the Fat and Types of Fat! And make every choice count!! if you work hard for your money, make your money work hard for you through your spending power! Get the best bang for your buck!!
Hit the local Farmer's Markets, now that the weather is getting nicer, you can pick up local produce! Nothing better than from the field to the table!
So get the egg, then get the exercise!! :o)
