OMG! WHAT TO DO!?

This past Sunday, I was blessed to be a part of a special day for a special couple.

A young lady I have known, since she was a child, married her sweetheart on Sunday morning, she was beautiful, the ceremony was beautiful...

Only one problem... the food... what are they serving, what will I eat etc... ?

This is the perfect storm to derail a lifestyle change.

The Groom is a chef, a real one, the hat, white uniform, neckerchief lol!!  So I knew the meal would be special, I just didn't expect this...

There were Hors d'oeuvres on the Patio, consisting of Shrimp in a Saffron Sauce, Chicken w/peanut sauce, and a battered deep fried vegetable with a fruity dip.

Once we moved indoors, the sit down dinner began with a bowl of warm Black Olive Bread, French Bread and another bread that I believe was a pumpernickel/white combo. Then on to Mushroom Bisque Soup with a small piece of white bread with a marble appearance cheese.  The Main course was a chicken Thigh/leg stuffed with Sun-dried Tomato and Brie Cheese with a side of steamed vegetables and wild rice. And I thought, lastly... Crème brûlée, that was AMAZING!!! It had a fruit topping above the hard caramel layer.

As I said, I thought that was it... nooooooooo there was a "desert table" at the back of the room, filled with delectable goodies!!!

Kiwi or Coconut Cookies, Pastry Pops (looked like a lollipop) with cherry, apple or blueberry inside, decorate a cupcake carousel including little white dove sweet tarts, and I am sure there were a few more goodies and at the very end of the table, these HUGE honking! Chocolate Chip "Thank You" Cookies!

So what did I eat....  well, lemme say, at least I took the skin off the chicken LOL!!

I ate about 1600-1800 Calories, cause I had everything...  and I paid for it.

I KNOW what I should have done... but, this was my choice to make and I made an educated choice, maybe NOT the best one but, it was still my choice.

And let me tell you lol!! Based on the White Flours and the Sugars... I was in PHYSICAL PAIN in my joints for the rest of the day.

After we left the wedding, I was home less than an hour and I started hurting and it just got worse, even a workout, a mini one late at night, didn't help.  My hips, knees, back... even my shoulders were hurting.  AND Talk about feeling lethargic!!! I was dead!!! Sugar overload! ugh!!!

What I should have done was....
  • Enjoyed 2-3 of the Shrimp Skewers
  • Enjoyed 1 of the Chicken Skewers
  • Enjoyed a bite of the Deep Fried Veggies (Which I did do)
  • Skip the Olive Bread OR only had a bite sized piece
  • Ate only 1/2 of the Mushroom Bisque Soup & 1/2 or none of the Cheese Bread
  • Ate all the Veggies (Which I did do)
  • Ate only 1/2 of the Wild Rice (the Serving was double sized)
  • Enjoyed the chicken without the skin (which I did do)
  • AND... only eaten the chicken and not the stuffing inside
  • And when it came to the Crème brûlée, I should have taken the Hard Caramel out and enjoyed the fruit with only a few spoons of the Crème of the brûlée LOL!
  • And I should have skipped the Desert Table completely!

Had I have done this... then I would have come in around 1000 Calories, which is EXTREMELY high for a meal but, this was later in the day and could have still had a few calories for something later IF I was hungry lol!!

BELIEVE me when I say, I wanted NOTHING the rest of the day! lol!!

And on another note...  BECAUSE I have stuck to my dietary outline of healthy foods in the correct portion sizes, I gained NOTHING weight wise.

Weigh in is tomorrow, I am still achy from the sugars and the white flour but, not as bad, just through the hip area.

So the lesson of the day...

If you go to a Wedding/Event where they are serving HIGH CALORIE FOODS that are filled with sugars, white flour and empty calories, that are going to be TOXIC to your system in the end... sampling is probably going to be ok.

Have a great day!
