Having an injury that is a result of my lower body being twisted, isn't something you can just say Oh well, no biggie and continue doing things the same way but, it is also NOT an opportunity to give up. Frustration just means... "I need to find another way/solution, to working around or through an issue. Including but, not limited to, fitting in exercise due to renovating a house and.... not quite having enough hours in a day lol!
So what did I do different? Well, running, which I GREATLY enjoy, has been out of the question, even when I was feeling some relief, I did "test" the left leg/hip to see what would happen. I only did one, 30 second light jog/run on my treadmill. It was fine when I was running, just like before but, after.... the message is/was crystal clear... NO RUNNING!
So then I tried just walking on a good incline at 3 mph on the treadmill, and when I say a "good" incline, I mean, like 10 lol!! Did I mention I am VERY competitive with myself? hehehe! And I did try at a 5 incline, still at 3mph... both a no go.
Alrighty then!!! The Elliptical it is! lol!! And has been!!
I have been doing 45 and 50 minute workouts but, NOT just one straight program for that length of time, its too boring!! lol! No, I break it up into either 2 or 3 different workouts, the last always being the most challenging and the left leg has been totally fine, no issues.
I have also added, cutting the grass and we have a pretty decent sized yard, front, back and both sides, takes about an hour, including dumping the clippings in the field out back.... and one of my former loves!!! BIKE RIDDING!!!
I used to love riding trails, going through trees, bushes, forest, hills etc... but, now that I am pushing 50... hitting a tree or wiping out a bike, takes on a whooooooooole new threat! lol! Even with a helmet on! lol!! So I stick to the city bike paths.
Last night, we made it a family ride, me, hubs and mini me, we rode 5 miles in under 45 minutes. It would have been quicker but, they didn't know I wanted a workout and I stopped several times for them to catch up to me lol!!
The point of me sharing this with you is simply this...
If you come to a mountain that seems unmovable, don't sit down, focus on the mountain and how big it is, how bad it is, how whatever that takes you down the "negative nelly" path, sit for a second, know the mountain has a way AROUND IT or THROUGH IT and then set your path. It is NOT impossible, it only "appears" that way for the moment. And once you find your pathway, grab it and go for it!!
So as a result of finding a way around/through my mountain, I have again lost another 2lbs this week, for a Grand Total of 38 pounds that are NEVER coming back!!!
Only 2 more pounds and it will give me that nice "round" number lol!! I like the milestones, you know the ones that end in 5 and 0 but, have another number in front of it lol!!
And yes, I have had some people say... Char, you don't need to lose.... or the Char, don't get too skinny!! lol!!
Ah... I am still, currently, as of today, a minimum of 47 pounds over weight. And the number I have is a Healthy Number agreed upon by myself and my doctor when she saw me at 30lbs down.
Believe Me!!! I am not into "skinny", I am into "HEALTHY" and whatever number that rests on on the scale, I am good with that :o)
Have a great day!!! And DON'T fixate on the mountain, fixate on the solution of how to get over, through or around it!! YOU CAN DO IT!!! ♥
